Service as Worship

Our Work

Four fields, one intention — to serve God in the people of this district.

Field 1 of 4

Education

Man-making education, from the first letters to a marketable skill.

Since 2005 the ashram has provided residential care and educational support for school dropouts and students from financially disadvantaged families, helping them return to regular study.

Computer training began in 2006, coaching for competitive examinations followed in 2011, and a residential school was opened in 2021 to provide regular education in a stable living environment.

  • Residential care and education support since 2005
  • Computer training for residential and local students since 2006
  • Coaching for competitive examinations since 2011
  • Residential school operating since 2021

Healthcare

Primary medical assistance taken to rural and remote communities.

In 2019 the ashram initiated a mobile charitable clinic to bring basic medical assistance closer to people living in surrounding rural and remote areas.

The service travels into local communities so that people who may struggle to reach distant facilities can receive accessible primary support.

  • Mobile charitable medical service initiated in 2019
  • Primary medical assistance in rural communities
  • Outreach to people in remote surrounding areas

Social Service

Practical skills that create income, employment, safety and confidence.

Livelihood projects for local women began in 2009 with training and production in incense, jam, jelly and other goods, creating practical routes towards independent income.

Tailoring and driving training were introduced in 2019, and a women's self-defence centre followed in 2024 to strengthen safety, physical capability and confidence.

  • Women's livelihood projects operating since 2009
  • Tailoring and practical skills training
  • Driving training for employment and safe personal mobility
  • Women's self-defence training since 2024

Spiritual Life

Worship kept up without a break, and teaching open to everyone.

At the centre of everything else is the shrine. Worship and arati are held morning and evening and have not been interrupted since the ashram was founded. The Jayanti festivals of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda, along with Durga Puja and Kali Puja, mark the year.

There are weekly classes on the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna and the Gita, discourses by visiting monks, retreats, and a steady stream of devotional literature that we lend and distribute. All of it is open to anyone who wishes to come, of any faith or none.

  • Daily worship and arati, morning and evening
  • Weekly classes on the Gospel and the Bhagavad Gita
  • Jayanti celebrations, Durga Puja and Kali Puja
  • Retreats and discourses by visiting monks
  • Devotional books and PDFs, lent and distributed freely

If you want to find God, serve man. To reach Narayana you must serve the Daridra Narayanas — the starving millions of India.
Swami Vivekananda

None of this runs on its own

Every rupee given to the ashram goes to the work it was given for. If you would like to help — with money, with time, or with a skill we need — we would be glad to hear from you.
